‘Indiana Jones 5’ low box office numbers are sending observers into a tizzy

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is staring at a not-so-good picture as the film’s domestic opening weekend business stood at just $60 million against a budget of nearly $300 million.

As The Wrap reported, the film’s international business numbers are not promising either, as it earned $70 million from 52 markets, pushing it to a $130 million global bow.

Moreover, the older fans of the franchise are expected to trickle in on the Fourth of July; meanwhile, Disney estimated an $82 million five-day total through the holiday.

But the report added that the amount would not be enough to put the Indy’s latest adventure on a profit path as the studio shelled out a $295 million budget.

Not to mention, a hefty marketing campaign, including the Cannes Film Festival premiere, which also shot the bill up.

Earlier, Indiana Jones’s new addition Phoebe Waller-Bridge seemingly did not hesitate to swing some jab to lead star if it’s in the script.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 37-year-old said her character punched Indy in the film so hard that it knocked out the icon.

“It’s such a brilliant cut, and it’s such an excellently scripted moment. And particularly because there’s so much fighting and left hooks and all that stuff all the way through the film, when she’s just fighting the bad guys,” Waller-Bridge added.

“But to have to level a punch to the hero of the film… It was glorious, because it was so funny.”
